World Breastfeeding Week 2005 Action Kit

ILCA's annual Action Kit will be available for purchase soon through the ILCA Bookstore. The kits include all of your old favorites, plus a full-color poster and spoon-shaped pin supporting this year's theme, "Breastfeeding and Family Foods: Loving and Healthy." PDF versions of much of the text and certificates, and a Powerpoint presentation on complementary feeding will also be available for free download in the Members Only area of the ILCA website.

The ship features cabaret-style seating at tables of 4 to 8 people. Participants must be pre-registered and have paid to attend. History Album—Your personal ‘thank you' message can be part of ILCA's commemorative history album that will debut at the conference.

Who were the mentors who inspired you, challenged you, and helped model the way you promote, protect, and support breastfeeding? Were they colleagues? Friends? Conference speakers? Authors? Mothers you have helped? Now you can remember and honor these special people who have made a difference in the profession and in your personal growth. ILCA is preparing a 20th Anniversary keepsake booklet with a section devoted to personal “thank you” ads. Don't miss your chance to pay tribute to the special people who have had an impact on the direction you have taken. Anniversary “Thank You” ads are only $15, and must be received at the ILCA office by June 1, 2005. Download the ad form (.pdf or .rtf) and mail or fax it to ILCA.

Result of ILCA Board of Directors' 2005 Election

It is with great pleasure that the ILCA Board of Directors announces the results of the 2005 election.

Congratulations to:

Elizabeth Brooks, JD, IBCLC, Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania, USA who was elected as Secretary and Jacki Glover, RN, MM, IBCLC, Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, who was elected as Director of Professional Development and Research. As there were no nominees for Treasurer at the cut-off time, the Board took applications and appointed Kathy Parkes, RN, IBCLC, San Antonio, Texas, USA to this position.

In accordance with recently approved ILCA ByLaws changes, the incoming ILCA President-elect was elected from within the ILCA Board at the November 2004 Board meeting. Becky Mannel, BS, BA, IBCLC, Edmond, Oklahoma, USA, ILCA’s current Secretary/Treasurer is ILCA's new President-elect. Her term will begin in July 2005 and she will serve as President for two years beginning in July 2006.

These new board members will take office in July 2005, and members attending the international conference in Chicago, Illinois USA will have an opportunity to meet them during the annual meeting.

ILCA renews its NGO status with the World Health Organization

ILCA's application for continued Non Governmental Organization (NGO) status with the World Health Organization has been granted for another three years. [more]
