Networking on ILCA's Discussion Board

Whether it's finding a roommate for any conference, initiating breastfeeding for sextuplets and quadruplets (all due at the same hospital!), or preparing for hospital inspections, there's a wealth of shared experience on ILCA's Discussion Board. Log in to read and learn. The Board is the place to network with ILCA members and colleagues worldwide on a broad range of topics. Please include your city and country in your posting. A section for Affiliate Networking has just been added. This will provide an opportunity to share ideas with other affiliates – there's no need to re-invent the wheel, whether it's starting a newsletter, setting up a website, initiating outreach or encouraging membership.

It's almost conference time! As a balance to days of exciting sessions, on Friday, July 16, participants will have five free hours in the afternoon. Member Maryann Thurston, who lives near Scottsdale and is president of the Central Arizona Lactation Consultant Association, compiled the following list of things to do at the Scottsdale Princess Resort, nearby sights to visit, and a complete guide to local shopping. Be sure to print it out and put it in your suitcase!

If you simply can't get enough of ILCA activities, you are invited to participate in the following committee meetings and discussion groups on Friday afternoon.

  • IBLCE Focus Group
  • ILCA Focus Group
  • Professional Educators Network Meeting
  • ILCA Affiliates Meeting

Times and locations will be posted at the Conference (we may well meet pool-side!) [more]

Staying Cool in Scottsdale's Desert Climate

The weather will be hot and dry – well over 100 degrees during the day - at conference time. Local member Maryann Thurston suggests that the best way to manage the desert climate is to plan outdoor activities in the morning and evening, and inside, air-conditioned, activities during the mid-day.
