2005 -- ILCA’s 20th Anniversary

As ILCA’s 20th anniversary year begins, members and friends have been sharing ILCA memories on the website Discussion Board. We invite you to add your memories, and to enjoy those of others. In honor of the 20th anniversary, Barbara Wilson-Clay, BSEd, IBCLC (pictured at left) interviewed Karen Pryor, whose book Nursing Your Baby was the inspiration for Barbara’s entry to the lactation consultant field.

Call for Applicants - ILCA Education Coordinator

Applications are invited for the position of ILCA Education Coordinator who will be responsible for coordination of all ILCA’s educational activities, initiatives and materials as well as working closely with ILCA committees involved in educational efforts. A job description and application for this new, 20-hour per week paid position will be posted in the Members Only area of the ILCA website on February 1. Deadline for applications is February 15 with a start date of April 4, 2005.

ILCA Commissions Commemorative Art for 20th Anniversary

To mark ILCA’s 20th anniversary, artists are invited to submit a drawing or painting depicting the work of lactation consultants in their role of supporting mothers and babies with breastfeeding.

The World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) is seeking feedback on its MPC Kit: “Maternity Protection at Work, a Breastfeeding Perspective” which was launched last year and is available from the ILCA Bookstore.

ILCA membership renewals due now for 2005 If you haven’t already renewed, be sure to do so immediately, to ensure continued access to the Members Only area of the website and delivery of your JHL. As well as renewing by mail, you can also renew on the ILCA website quickly and easily, and save on postage! You will need your member ID which is listed on your renewal form. Unless you have changed it, your password is your last name. If you wish to renew online for two years, make a charitable contribution or change your membership category, please contact the ILCA office at info@ilca.org in advance, so that your online renewal form can be adjusted accordingly.

ILCA’s Sister Program and Scholarship Funds need your support

Many places in the world are experiencing financial and political hardships which restrict funding, support and opportunities for lactation education. Mindful of this, ILCA administers the following programs to assist its members and other health workers interested in lactation. These programs rely on donations from ILCA members and others: your help is needed. As ILCA is registered as a non-profit organisation in the United States, your contribution may be tax deductible.[more]
