ILCA celebrates World Breastfeeding Week - new Spanish poster and free Spanish downloads now available!

2005 WBW Kit Spoon Shaped Button

ILCA's colorful World Breastfeeding Week Kit has many new items to help you create easy, exciting and low cost local celebrations. Each 2005 kit now includes an 11 x 17 inch color poster in English, and Spanish versions of the poster (as well as additional English posters) are available for separate purchase at the 2005 conference and in ILCA's online Bookstore.

Other new additions to this year's kit include bulletin board ideas, and more reproducible pamphlets. As always, the kit contains the popular action ideas, certificates, table tents and bookmarks. Spanish versions of the table tent and bookmark can be downloaded free as a members-only benefit from the ILCA website.

The kit is US$15 for members (plus shipping) and $US20 (plus shipping) for non-members. Be sure to use your member login to get your member discount when ordering from ILCA's online Bookstore.

Seed Grants from WABA for World Breastfeeding Week 2005

WABA has seed grants available to help groups who are organizing celebrations for WBW 2005 and need funds to translate and produce WBW materials into their local language.

The application deadline is July 4, 2005. [more]

Call for applicants - WBW 2006 Kit Development

ILCA seeks applicants for development of the 2006 World Breastfeeding Week Kit. This position is an annual contract that pays US $500 for development of the copy for the kit.

Australian Government Recognizes ILCA's Ellen McIntyre for Services to Breastfeeding

ILCA member and chair of the International Lactation Education Accreditation Council (ILEAC) Ellen McIntyre from Mt Barker, South Australia, was awarded the prestigious Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in Australia's Queen's Birthday Honours List last month.[more]

First Baby Friendly Medical Facility Designated in Rome, Italy

La Casa di Cura Santa Famiglia in Rome is the first medical facility in the region of Lazio to receive the Baby Friendly designation.

The Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) assessment team, led by ILCA member Rosellina Cosentino MD also included ILCA member and co-founder of Mami (WABA) Rosalind Nestic̣, IBCLC), and Sabine Schweizer RN, IBCLC.

La Casa di Cura Santa Famiglia, has about 1550 births per year.

CDC Guide to Breastfeeding Interventions launches at 2005 ILCA Conference

A comprehensive new publication by the United States Centers for Disease Control -- CDC Guide to Breastfeeding Interventions --will be unveiled at the 2005 ILCA Conference and copies will be available at the ILCA Booth. [more]
